Littrow Mounting
The littrow mounting is illustrated in fig. Large plane reflecting gratings are mounted this way, G is a plane reflection grating, P is a photographic plate, S is a slit and L is a large achromatic lens. The principle of Littrow mounting is similar to that of Eagle mounting. The achromatic lens L serves two functions. It renders the incident light from the slit parallel as well as it focuses the diffracted beam on P. Thus, it serves both as a collimating lens and a telescope objective.
